For anyone out there who is not a fan of shameless puns, I apologize; I'll always try to add at least one into each of these thoughts. Welcome to Fall, everyone!
With October finally here, the mornings are beginning to cool off and some of you have already reached out to have your furnaces checked. Having this done early is an excellent idea, as it helps you catch potential problems before you really need the heat running. Believe me, that is a lot less stressful than having your furnace break down the day before Thanksgiving. While HALO Heating and Air will take your call during the holidays, we would much rather you enjoy the day with family and without the stress of fixing your home.
I've been doing HVAC for years, and the biggest piece of advice I have is, "make sure your filters are changed regularly." A dirty filter can cause your furnace to overheat or your AC to freeze. While these can be corrected by replacing the filter, whenever this happens, your system becomes stressed, and we risk shortening the life of the equipment as a whole.
If you have a humidifier on your furnace, it is time to replace the pad or canister. Most Colorado homes have low humidity during the winter months, and your humidifier can help keep your home comfortable as well as keep you healthy. According to the EPA, the best indoor humidity level is between 30%-50%. Low humidity in the home can lead to dry and bloody noses, static discharge on or near carpeted areas and reduce your ability to fight off viruses. If you aren't sure whether your humidifier is working, or if your furnace even has a humidifier, give us a call. We offer free quotes to install humidifiers, and most existing ones are fairly simple to repair.
We hope you enjoy the cool fall mornings and look forward to seeing everyone at their scheduled maintenances. If you found this page and don't currently have a maintenance plan for your HVAC system, don't worry! All you need to do is call in or schedule an appointment from our website. We would be thrilled to have you join our growing family!
