Check overall condition of the unit

Safety test for carbon monoxide (CO)

Check gas piping for gas leaks

Check furnace safety switch

Cleaning inside of the furnace cabinet

Check limit/rollout switches

Check electrical ground

Checking electrical connections for tightness and/or corrosion in the wiring system.

Checking motor windings for the accumulation of dust which may cause overheating, and offer cleaning as necessary

Clean the condenser coil and fan as well as check for stability, amp draw, and vibrations

Check blower wheels and motors any accumulation of dust and proper alignment

Check blower motor for proper power draw

Inspect electrical wiring and connections

Check the defrost assembly to verify the defrost timer is working.

Check crankcase heater for proper operation

Monitor airflow and temperatures

Examine unit disconnect switches and and safety switches

Check unit placement and elevation to prevent drainage problems, freezing, and other issues

Ensure all boiler connections and wiring are intact

Examine and clean flame sensors, ignitor, and burner assembly

Inspect the venting system for deterioration, corrosion, or blockage to ensure all pipe and joint connections are secure

Inspect the vent terminations and combustion air inlet to make sure for any obstructions 

Check control settings and test safety controls and operating controls

Inspect around and under your boiler for leaking water

Inspect the condensate drain line, fittings, and drain trap for proper operation 

Check for proper clearance around the boiler 

Check temperature and pressure readings

Check for error and service codes

Make sure fan blades are free of dust buildup.

Ensure all moving parts are free of cracks and excessive wear.

Check for proper power draw of fan motor so it meets design specifications.

Clear dampers of dirt accumulations.

Confirm damper actuators and linkages are operational and aligned.

Confirm all mechanical connections and dampers are properly operational

Clean the coils

Check for any sings of refrigerant leaks on all coils, refrigerant lines, valves, fittings (if applicable)

Check for rust in condensation pans and drains.

Drain and remove any moisture from all cooling coils.

Make sure freeze stat is on proper temperature setting and operation.

Vacuum the entire unit properly.
