Common Indoor Pollutants in Weld County Homes

Your home's air can be a complex mixture of particles and gases from numerous sources. Our advanced testing methods can pinpoint a wide range of contaminants, helping you understand exactly what you and your family are breathing every day.

  • Mold Spores: Colorado's dry climate doesn't make homes immune to mold. Leaky pipes, basement dampness, poor ventilation in bathrooms, or condensation around windows can create ideal conditions for mold growth. Airborne mold spores can trigger severe allergies, asthma attacks, and other respiratory problems.
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): VOCs are gases released from common household products, including paints, new furniture, carpeting, cleaning supplies, and air fresheners. High concentrations can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, and long-term damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system.
  • Radon: This colorless, odorless radioactive gas is a serious concern throughout Colorado, including Weld County. Radon seeps into homes from the natural decay of uranium in the soil and rock beneath. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, making professional testing essential for your family's safety.
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO): Known as the "silent killer," CO is an odorless gas produced by fuel-burning appliances like furnaces, water heaters, and gas stoves. A professional test can detect low-level leaks that consumer-grade detectors might miss, preventing potential poisoning.
  • Allergens and Particulates: Dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and other fine particulates can circulate endlessly through your HVAC system. For individuals with allergies or asthma, identifying the specific type and concentration of these allergens is the first step toward effective relief.
  • Asbestos: If your home was built before the 1980s, it may contain asbestos in insulation, flooring, or ceiling materials. When disturbed during renovations or due to deterioration, asbestos fibers can become airborne and cause severe lung diseases.

Our Comprehensive Air Quality Testing Process

We believe in a transparent, thorough, and scientific approach to diagnosing your home's air quality. Our process is designed to be straightforward for you while providing the detailed analysis needed for effective solutions.

  • Initial Consultation: We begin by discussing your specific concerns. Are you experiencing unusual health symptoms? Do you notice musty odors? Are you planning a renovation or have you recently moved in? This conversation helps us tailor the testing strategy to your home's unique situation.
  • On-Site Assessment and Sampling: A certified technician will visit your home to conduct a visual inspection and deploy state-of-the-art equipment. This involves collecting air samples, and if necessary, surface samples from strategic locations throughout your property to ensure a comprehensive analysis.
  • Accredited Laboratory Analysis: Your samples are sent to an independent, accredited laboratory for rigorous scientific analysis. This step ensures that your results are accurate, unbiased, and reliable, going far beyond the capabilities of any DIY home test kit.
  • Detailed Reporting and Clear Recommendations: Once the analysis is complete, we provide you with a comprehensive report that is easy to understand. We don’t just give you numbers; we explain what the findings mean for your health and your home. Most importantly, we outline clear, actionable steps and recommendations to address any issues we uncover.

When to Consider Professional Air Quality Testing

While clean air is always important, certain situations make professional testing a critical step in protecting your home and family. Consider scheduling a test if you:

  • Experience Unexplained Health Issues: If members of your household suffer from persistent allergies, asthma, headaches, fatigue, or respiratory irritation that improves when they leave the house.
  • Notice Musty Odors or See Visible Mold: A musty smell is a strong indicator of hidden mold growth. Even if you can’t see it, it’s crucial to test the air for elevated spore counts.
  • Are Buying or Selling a Home: An IAQ test provides peace of mind for buyers and can be a valuable asset for sellers, demonstrating a commitment to a healthy home environment.
  • Have Recently Renovated or Purchased New Furniture: New building materials, paints, and furnishings can off-gas high levels of VOCs for weeks or months.
  • Experienced a Flood or Water Leak: Any instance of water damage significantly increases the risk of mold and bacterial growth, even after the area appears dry.
  • Live with Vulnerable Individuals: Homes with young children, elderly residents, or individuals with compromised immune systems should prioritize excellent air quality.

The Clear Advantage Over DIY Kits

DIY test kits can seem like a simple solution, but they often provide incomplete or misleading information. They typically lack the sensitivity of professional-grade equipment and can't identify the specific types of mold or the exact concentration of VOCs. Without professional interpretation from an expert who understands Weld County's specific environmental profile, a DIY result is little more than a guess. Our service provides definitive answers and a clear path forward, empowering you to make informed decisions for a healthier home.

I called Halo when my water heater started leaking from the bottom. They responded quickly and reviewed my options for a new water heater. Steve was able to locate the particular water heater I wanted and had the old one removed and the new one Installed that day. I can't thank them enough for the prompt service. I highly recommend Halo and will use them again if the need arises. They were very courteous and professional.

Steve, the HALO technician, was great. He did a quick view of our furnace and could see it was malfunctioning. He was very transparent, showing me his initial findings, explaining how the furnace should work and trying a step to correct the problem. When that didn't work, he inspected the wiring more closely and found a crimped wire leading into the burner assembly. He replaced the wire and the furnace resumed normal operation. Thanks much, Steve!

I’m am so impressed with the quality and depth of service that I received. The details about what was being done and how the system works were so helpful to me and the most valuable as I know how to help diagnose my own system.
They tested everything and were able to diagnose my problems and get them fixed. This was after two other companies had tried to do this and failed
I would recommend them again to everyone who wanted expertise and high level skills and knowledge who will get the problem resolved.

Steve and Chernet literally saved our kennel dogs and puppies by repairing a heating system that was not designed to function in negative temperatures. They came up with a plan to keep the temperatures warm and monitored them throughout the night!! They did that! And did it all for an extremely fair price. We have had several other HVAC companies come to our business to“fix” our system. Nobody had ever been honest with us, and kept charging more and more each visit leaving us with a system that really was not designed to work properly. We will never use another HVAC company again. Halo has our business for life!!
